Rival "Top Dogs" DJ and Lonzo--from two inner-city gangs--put aside their differences to team up and promote each others' music when they both are crossed by an unscrupulous record executive. The boys hire Gator, a former druglord now living in the hills, to bust caps for them, which brings them some success for a time. Soon, the involvement of the police and the unexpected killing of a gang member wears DJ and Lonzo's alliance thin.
